Yvonne Sciascia Physical Therapist, Doula
Hello! My name is Yvonne and I specialize in pelvic floor physical therapy. I’m passionate about helping moms and am also a birth doula serving the Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia region, so I assist my clients with birth planning and welcoming new young ones to your family. And of course I see many physical therapy clients who range from elite athletes to post surgery patients, and everything in between.
Originally from Boston, my passion for New England sports is deeply rooted. I grew up catching late night Bruins games and Tom Brady suiting up for the Patriots every Sunday. In addition to watching sports, I played ice hockey starting in the 3rd grade and was also a competitive rock climber throughout high school.
I attended the University of Wyoming for undergrad where I received a bachelors in kinesiology, followed by physical therapy school at Columbia University in New York. I then completed a manual orthopedic residency through The University of Chicago Medical Center where I worked with both orthopedic and women’s health patients.
I live in the DuPont neighborhood and you may see me around walking my fluffy little Chow Chow puppy, Oshie. In my spare time, I enjoy going to brunch with friends, long runs and fitness classes. Some of my favorite activities include yoga, spin, Pilates, boxing, snowboarding and rock climbing.
Although I love all realms of physical therapy, I am particularly interested in cases involving pregnancy, postpartum and pelvic pain. In sharing my passion, I hope to spread the same enthusiasm about the pelvic floor to all my patients and community here in Washington, DC!
